The Polish representative building was created on the initiative of the savings and loan entity - Towarzystwo Oszczędności i Zaliczek. It was the seat of Polish associations and institutions and was designed by the architect Eduard David in the spirit of New Classicism. The building housed a restaurant, a café and Polonia Hotel (today's Hotel Piast). The construction began in 1928 and the works were completed in 1931.
